I have no problem what-so-ever with links to contests where a user here has an entry. I think it is only fair that the OP should have a link to the main contest page as well as his entry, and that people should listen to more than just Schuppor's entry before voting. Remember, this is a competition, you're not voting to say you like it, but voting to say you like it best.

Quote from Jakg :Lets say your tyres have a max force of 1G. They can handle 1G of acceleration, 1G of braking *or* 1G of cornering. They can't do 1G of braking *and* cornering, so to sway at 0.05G you'll only be getting 0.95G of actual braking force.

</oversimplified example>

All fine except it's not a linear relationship.

The lateral acceleration squared plus the longitudinal accelerated squared, square rooted, gives your total (i.e. the Pythagorean theorem). So in your nice example of a tyre with a perfect traction circle (although this also applies correctly to an ellipse, but sadly real tyres are more complicated than an ellipse too), adding or 5% of lateral force capability decreases maximum longitudinal force by only 0.13%.

Likewise if a tyre were creating 0.95g braking and 0.05g cornering, the vector length (i.e. the combined total) would not be 1.0g, but 0.9513g. In fact you'd need to be cornering at 0.31g to reduce braking down to 0.95g.

I'm getting many different hits for that amp name, but all the specs seem similar. You'll probably need to go down the car speaker route, as your amp won't deliver enough power for conventional 8 ohm bookshelf speakers, most have a minimum higher than your amps output. Car speakers (I think) are 2 or 4 ohm, so you'd should have enough for those.

I don't know much about building speakers, but the majority of the cost of hife speakers is the cabinet. A good, strong, sturdy design is best, with plenty of acoustic foam inside to absorb resonances.

The absolute magnitude of the forces will of course be smaller but you can just scale them up to make full use of the wheel's motor.

Quote from danowat :Which engine is it based on

Our own.

Quote from danowat :Also, wasn't there another game coming out shortly you worked on?, Ride to hell? IIRC?

We're currently working on three titles. Ride to Hell is one of the others. Although after Deep Silver Vienna closed, the game has understandably been set back a bit. Hence the trailer on the official website still says "coming 2009". It seems that slogan is becoming the new joke of the racing game industry.

There is also a new licenced racer in the works, which I think is due to be announced in September, and released early next year. I of course can't say what the licence is, but anyone who's been keeping a close eye on what I've been up to or talking about over the past year or so, might be able to guess it. Of course I can't tell you if you guess right, either.

Quote from DevilDare :If you can answer this Bob

Nope, sorry.

Quote from danowat :Is this based on a new, or an evoloution of, an existing engine?

Evolution. No need to start over unless you've done something hideously wrong. We evolved from amoeba afterall.

Quote from danowat :I guess it will all become apparent in the future, just wanted a rough idea what the finished product is going to be like.

I can't give out any facts out that aren't in press releases atm, sorry.

Yes, the top 5s are all coming out rather predictably boring, I'm afraid. Unfortunately we need to bow to the masses and make what people want. This does tend to mean overlapping with content with all the other racing games, as this is all people who aren't well into their cars and motorsport will know.

Correct.

Indeed.

Ah but general purpose file sharing sites get used a lot to store people's random crap, distribution of mods, etc. And they're generally not as searchable. With torrent sites all the illegal stuff is often right in your face. It's a little different, IMO.

Quote from Lible :So now any posts that link/talk about sites that contain any illegal are deleted?

We've never tolerated illegal material being posted on this forum, or links to it. Even if you're not linking to a specific file, when it comes to sites whose entire purpose is to provide illegal material, then no links to that site should be posted.

Quote from Lible :Who exactly was harmed or offended by those posts? They certainly weren't illegal by law and they certainly didn't break any rules.

I don't anything that happens on this forum is illegal by law. Vob mods certainly aren't, yet the community understands why we remove all evidence of it from here. You can talk about software piracy, I just don't want to see any links. As far as I'm concerned, posting the name of a site is only one step removed from posting a link to it, and clearly people knew this as sites were being referred to by acronyms or cryptic clues, so I can't be alone in my opinion.

Quote from Lible :I think it is time for some moderators to step down.

I think you're over-reacting a little. I almost binned the whole thread as soon as I read it, but was trying to not over-react, and allowing a genuine and useful discussion to continue.

Quote from spacedskunk :Captain Morgan's Dark Rum is very nice

This is what I've ended up buying. Doesn't smell quite the same (stronger and not as sweet) but should suffice. Will find out in the afternoon.

Selling (or even giving away) of used licences is not permitted. You can't sell you driving licence, your LFS licence is no different in that regard.

There's no evidence here of licence evasion, so I'm not doing a thing. Anyone can find an LFS setup online and then post it here. You're a damn unwelcoming lot.
